Commercial Lines Product Management Underwriter

Capital Insurance Group has an excellent opportunity in our Commercial Underwriting Department in the Monterey area for a senior underwriter to function as a Product Management Underwriter. This highly technical Home Office assignment requires a strategic thinker with excellent analytical and problem solving skills, product development and market analysis experience, and superior communications. The ideal candidate for this position will provide technical underwriting support to Branch Office staff and approve referrals that exceed Branch authority levels. In addition, this position will be responsible for the placement of facultative reinsurance; development of rates and forms and the creation of underwriting guidelines and marketing information. We will also rely upon this position to evaluate field underwriting quality and compliance.
REQUIREMENTS
The individual we seek will be a self-starter with excellent time management and sound organizational skills; effective communications ability, both verbally and in writing with the skill to interact effectively with customers, regulators and company personnel; excellent analytical and financial skills are also required to formulate strategy; evaluate risks, exposures and coverage issues. You must also have strong personal computer skills with experience in the standard software applications including Word and Excel.

To be considered you must have a College Degree with emphasis in insurance, finance, mathematics or other business related discipline. A minimum of five years of property-casualty underwriting experience is required along with the demonstration of progressively challenging technical assignments and underwriting responsibility. A valid driver’s license is also necessary along with the ability to conduct extended overnight travel.
