Claims Manager

GMAC Insurance is a part of GMAC Financial Services, which provides automotive financing, commercial finance, insurance and mortgage products, and real estate services. With a presence in 41 nations, GMAC has been a wholly owned subsidiary of General Motors since 1919.

The GMAC Insurance companies market a wide variety of personal insurance products including coverage for cars, motorcycles, recreational vehicles, classic or antique cars, and commercial vehicles. GMAC Insurance products are marketed to affinity organizations, employee groups, and consumers either directly or through a network of independent agents.

Job Description
Supervises, evaluates performance and recommends salary changes for personnel. Assists in the interviewing and selection of new personnel. Responsible for proper assignments of field claims. Maintains service standards, reporting procedures, statutory compliance, and the efficient operation of the unit (i.e., file audits, file reviews, diary control). Handles routine problems, complaints and general public relations issues which arise concerning claims service.
REQUIREMENTS
Job Qualifications
Qualifications required:
Minimum of 5 years of claims experience. Casualty and Material Damage experience.

Obtains/maintains appropriate licensing or education requirements.

Has thorough knowledge of claims policies and procedures in resolving and/or providing direction to field claims representatives for claims handling and vehicle inspection timeliness.
Is primary source of direction for unit on claim policies and procedures.

Demonstrates the ability to interpret and apply written coverage accurately to establish claim and determine action plans. Requires a high degree of initiative, mature judgment, and discretion.

Requires the ability to resolve conflicts and empathize with others is critical. Negotiation skills are important for resolving issues.

Demonstrates professional oral and written communication skills.

Organization, customer service, and time management skills are critical for this position.

Demonstrates a solid understanding of insurance law as it relates to claims.

Demonstrates the ability to find answers to more complex issues with insurance law and is a source of direction/assistance for other reports.

Demonstrates effective leadership skills.

Qualifications desired: Comprehension of Regulation 64 and 95. A licensed appraiser. Ability to navigate Internet/Intranet. Industry education/certifications.
