Chief Appraisal Officer

Leading University is seeking a highly qualified Staff Accountant to join their team.

Under general direction of a senior accountant, the incumbent is responsible providing University's Foundation accounting services for fund, planned giving and investment accounting. The incumbent will be responsible for preparing journals, reconciling accounts, preparing reports, maintaining accounting records and documentation.

Duties and Tasks:

-Perform general accounting and administrative functions to support fund, planned giving and investment accounting for the University Foundation.
-Record and document financial transactions including contributions, pledges, income allocations, expenditures, fund transfers, fees, notes & loans, investments and other transactions.
-Reconcile accounts and analyze financial transactions to determine accuracy, completeness and conformance to established policies and procedures and generally accepted accounting standards.
-Prepare, analyze, and interpret financial reports, statements and records (e.g. balance sheet, income statement, cash flow, loan schedules, pledge schedules, general fund reports, gift annuity reports)
-Assemble data for and create financial projections for general fund budget, cash flow projections, gift fees and other activity.
-Compile and maintain records of routine accounting transactions
-Assist in preparation and/or maintenance of accounting reporting systems
-Help resolve problems associated with incorrect entries, deviations from established procedures, and other inconsistencies with generally accepted accounting principles

-Assist in analysis and interpretation of accounting records and reports and/or performance of administrative & clerical support duties as assigned
-Direct the activities of temporary staff.

-Other duties as assigned but not limited to:
-Cash receipts processing
-Check processing
-MTF processing
-Assist with audits including the preparation of audit lead and detail schedules.
-Backup
-Provide back-up for the lead accountants for fund accounting, planned giving accounting and investment accounting.
REQUIREMENTS
SKILLS KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

-Demonstrate basic knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and their practical applications.
-Ability to compile detailed accounting transactions and reconciliation that require knowledge of accounting concepts
-Demonstrated ability in analyzing and reconciling large financial data reports
-Ability to meet deadlines while performing duties with a high degree of accuracy
-Skill in working under constant deadlines and on several projects concurrently.
-Ability to operate a personal computer with multiple applications, including proficiency in using Microsoft Excel, Word, Access and Powerpoint and various web applications. Need to be proficient in using Solomon accounting software.
-Skill in organizing and maintaining accurate, up to date accounting records for audit and follow up action
-Analytical skills to evaluate information, identify and resolve problems
-Ability to work under general supervision

-Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and to establish and maintain cooperative working relationship with all Finance and Information staff, faculty and administrators
-Working knowledge of auditing standards and applications
-Ability to work as a part of a team to accomplish the department’s missions and goals.
