Business Banking Group Leader

M&I Coporation financial services company, which focuses upon developing long-term customer relationships, involvement in local community, and high quality service with a strong customer service focus.

We are currently looking for a Business Banking Group Leader for our Tucson market.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Manages small or low-end middle market business banking relationships for companies in a specific industry group or geographical region. Manages and advises business banking officers on a variety of complex issues. Position is responsible for meeting annual profit plan goals in loan growth, non-interest income, direct expense control and loan portfolio quality. This position is also responsible for assisting in managing the business banking portfolio.

SPECIFIC DUTIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Administration/Management
· Administer policies as they affect the business banking operations within the assigned group or region.
· Establish sales goals for each banker and the group and review their progress toward goals.
· Review and augment the activities of business banking officers through direct client contact.
· Manage business-banking officers to effectively meet the demands of the assigned industry group or region.
· Exercise the usual authority of a group/region manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations and terminations.
· Provide ongoing training for business banking officers.
· Participate on the Business and Retail Loan committee. Review credit write-ups for approval at the Small Business Retail Loan Committee.

Customer Consulting/Selling
· Maintain profitable individual loan portfolio and customer prospect base
· Customer calling (60% referrals, 40% cold calls)
· Cross-sales of all bank products and services
· Involvement in community activities, which will enhance M&I’s presence and product visibility.

Credit Administration
· Manage the department and individual loan portfolio and ensure loan credit quality.
· Gather proper information to ensure credit approval and to fulfill legal requirements.
· Review financial data and maintain proper6 documentation of all business relationships.
· Manage compliance with the Community Reinvestment Act through the review of loans submitted by minority and disadvantaged companies. Compliance with CRA also includes the education of these minority prospects and customers on our services and how they work.
Critical Linkages
· Identify critical linkage partners and work with them on a proactive basis.
· Cross sale of all M&I products and services to ensure that customers’ needs are met.
· Make referrals as appropriate.

Other
· Consistently models inclusion-based behaviors resulting in respectful, effective working relationships with employees and customers.
· Demonstrates results in enhancing departmental diversity and quality of work life.
· Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
· College degree in Finance or Accounting preferred, commensurate experience will also be considered.
· 6-8 years of experience as a commercial lender/business banker.
· 2-3 years of management experience in a financial setting.
· Advanced knowledge of financial statement analysis and generally accepted accounting principles.
· Advanced knowledge of loan policy, business lending guidelines and loan structure and loan documentation.
· In-depth knowledge of banking industry and bank products/services.
· Understanding of and ability to execute on a variety of relationship sales techniques.

PERFORMANCE MEASURES:
· Achievement of individual and department goals regarding number of calls on existing customers, prospects and referral sources.
· Meet or exceed annual sales goals for loans, deposits and completed referrals.
· Exhibit growth in loan and deposit balances in accordance with expected goals in an effort to retain existing customer base.
· Maintain acceptable level of loan quality measures.(i.e. past dues, exceptions, credit grades, etc.)
· Minimal charge-offs and non-accrual as a percentage of total loans.
