The Time Warner Investments group focuses on investment opportunities that directly enhance Time Warner’s ability to meet specific strategic goals. These strategic goals include the delivery of new services, enhancement of an existing product, entry or expansion into a key strategic market, completion of a strategic partnership, and critical research and development. Time Warner Investments seeks to acquire minority equity stakes in private companies, and targets an investment size of up to $25MM.The Associate will be responsible for: In-depth assessment of business plans and investment proposals to determine business model viability, industry attractiveness and strategic fit with TW operations. Participation in due diligence process with potential investments; coordinate communications with TW divisions; interact with portfolio companies, investment partners and external advisors. Development of financial models to determine financial return profile of investments, appropriate entry valuation and structure of equity investment. Analyze exit opportunities. Draft term sheets and analyze investment terms including provisions covering governance and liquidity events. Write investment committee memorandums and interact with Advisory Committee and TW business unit managers. Industry and market analysis and research to identify appropriate target areas of investment for the fund. Attend industry conferences. Assessment of key business drivers and industry and demographic trends in relevant market segments, along with identification of potential investment candidates in these target markets. Work with existing portfolio companies and fund investments.Qualifications: This is a pre-MBA position. The ideal candidate should possess two to three years of investment banking, consulting, private equity, venture capital or start-up experience. The individual must be highly motivated, have strong business judgment and command the ability to work individually or in small teams. Ideal candidates will have prior media, telecommunications, or technology experience, strong technical analytic skills, experience working with complex financial models, company valuations, along with superior strategic thinking, writing and presentation skills. Strong interpersonal skills are necessary in order to communicate effectively with senior management of portfolio companies, internal TW management and outside advisors. Strong Excel skills are necessary.
