Based in Purchase, New York, (20 miles north of New York City) the Banking and Lending group is responsible for some of the most significant revenue opportunities in Morgan Stanley’s Global Wealth Management business. The group is responsible for developing, launching and managing innovative bank and lending products tailored towards affluent and high net worth clients. These products include mortgage lending, business lending, cash management, margin lending and securities-based lending, as well as a range of banking services offered through clients’ retail brokerage accounts.
An Associate in the Banking and Lending group plays a key role in the launch of one or more banking products. Typical responsibilities include:

Evaluating, sizing and developing new product opportunities

Analyzing competitive strategies

Coordinating cross functional teams with representatives from IT, operations, legal, marketing, compliance, business, finance to launch and implement new initiatives

Tracking financial performance and developing key performance metrics

Working with Financial Advisors and Branch Managers to resolve issues

Preparing read-outs, status and financial forecasts to senior managementSkills Required
The desired candidate will possess strong problem solving and analytical skills, be a strong communicator, demonstrate leadership and initiative on projects and work well in a fast paced work environment. Financial services experience (with a retail brokerage firm, private bank or retail bank in particular) is preferred, but not required. Strategy consulting experience and/or experience working in a finance or strategy group at a leading financial services firm is also desired. Successful candidates who demonstrate initiative and leadership skills will quickly be given the opportunity to lead high profile initiatives. Mentoring from within the team and from overall Morgan Stanley management is readily available.
An Associate in the Banking and Lending group will gain valuable skills and unique experience working directly on the opportunities and challenges facing a global financial services leader in an extremely dynamic and competitive industry. He/She will be able to observe at close hand how senior management runs a $5Bn+ revenue business.
