Assistant Project Manager

Qualified candidate will be responsible for the project management of 5 banking software products, and the overall project management guidance for additional 1 - 2 products.

Specific tasks would include working with the design, development, and QA teams to create, plan, and schedule software development projects (new releases and service packs) from the initial requirements process through version release, training, and full implementation.

The candidate will be responsible for kicking off projects, scheduling all phases of project milestones, estimating project risk and timelines, ensuring the scope of the project is possible with time and resources given, building effective project plans, aggressive tracking and management of project timelines, and coordinating efforts among key team members.

They will be responsible for guidance/leadership on project tasks to ensure success and provide standardized processes and procedures in accordance with current PM methodologies.

The candidate would be required to implement current SDLC processes and procedures across all products and ensure standardize methods are followed. Additionally, the candidate would be responsible for continuing process improvement and procedure standardization. They will be managing tasks for several development groups, some of which are remote employees.

Other responsibilities include: Coordinate product training, produce project plans and status reports for senior management, manage customer enhancement request from system entry to completion, and manage product documentation and manage the development tracking database.

Minimum Requirements: 1-2 years experience in MS Project 2003 (blue belt desired). Experience with MS Project Web Access.

Education: 4-year college degree, or equivalent experience.

Experience: 5-6 years of IT project management, 2-3 years Management, 1-2 years product management, and experience in process and SDLC improvement.

Desired Qualifications: Superior leadership, management, and communication skills. Ability to work with all management levels. Proven success on multiple complex projects. Leadership in negotiation and consensus building. Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines. Knowledge of banking operations and processes, or banking software. PMI member.

Certificates/ Licenses: Desired - PMP or CAPM certification or formal PMI course work.
