Apache Web & Application Server Engineer

Position Description: Fortune 50 corp / Multiple Washington DC metro area location VA/MD/DC.

Participate as a team member in installation and support of solutions involving Web Server deployments within the Enterprise. Specific duties include:
·Install and configure Apache and Sun One Web Server under Linux, Wintel, and Solaris for internal and external implementations, using HTTP and HTTPS configurations
·Troubleshoot problems with web server software and configurations including fault isolation and root cause analysis;
·Troubleshoot network connectivity issues as it pertains to the web server software and its connectivity to the Internet and internal application server instances;
·Document operational processes and procedures to manage all aspects of the deployed web server based functions.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:
·BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related field.
·Five to eight years experience in the following:
·Installation and configuration of web servers in large scale deployment environments;
·Design, development, and deployment of supporting web server technology solutions for use in production and non-production environments;
·Demonstrated ability to apply high quality and rigorous engineering methods and techniques;
·Demonstrated high level of interpersonal communication, both verbal and written, and negotiation skills.

Technical Skill Requirements:
·Technology Platforms
·Mandatory: Apache 1.3 or 2.0 web servers
·Desirable: Sun Java Web Server 6.x web servers
·Desirable: Microsoft IIS 5.x, 6.x
·Desirable: BEA/WebLogic 8.x, 9.x

·Programming and scripting:
·Mandatory: BOURNE/KORN/C-shell
·Mandatory: Perl

·Operating Environments
·Mandatory: UNIX – Linux, Solaris, AIX
·Desirable: Win2003/XP

·Microsoft Office tools (Project, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word).
