These principles—and our ability to provide innovative capital solutions to our consumer and business partners—continue to transform and redefine real estate finance markets, worldwide.The Accounting Manager for Residential Capital Group’s (RCG) financing accounting is responsible for the more complex activities associated with maintaining a complete and accurate accounting in the general ledger for the mortgage loans held for investment and the related bonds in an asset backed securitization. Will manage 3 other professional accountants to ensure transparency, accuracy, completeness, timeliness and compliancy of the accounting and reporting related to the financing portfolio as well as the professional development of the direct reports.
Essential Accountabilities:Manage a group of three accountantsOversee the accounting of the financing portfolio which includes recording the securitization transaction and all accounting related to the mortgage loans held for investment and related bondsEnsure SOX controls evolve as the processes evolve and the identified controls are working as intendedWork with various project groups to enhance the current accounting processes to make them more efficient while keeping the accounting accurateWork with GAAP policy group to ensure the accounting for new transactions is correctWork with the financial planning and forecasting group to explain and support the monthly financial results of the pipelineReview the monthly accounting of the pipeline group to ensure completeness and accuracyReview the quarterly reporting used for the corporate footnote disclosures, corporate tax reporting, and regulatory compliance reporting to ensure completeness and accuracyContinued education of mortgage loan accountingOversee and review the monthly account reconciliationsRequirements:Bachelor Degree in AccountingMBA, CPA or CMA desired
7+ Years related experience in the financial services industryProven process improvement initiativeAnalytical reporting on financial dataStrong spreadsheet and database query skillsPrior management experienceKnowledge of FAS65, FAS91, FAS140, FAS156 desired
Understanding of mortgage industry and mortgage backed securities trading, processes, procedures structures, and terminology helpfulPrior mortgage loan experience desired
Strong Excel spreadsheet knowledge including built in functions and formulasWorking knowledge of Access databases in particular building queries and linking to data warehouse tablesUS GAAP and ability to research and apply FASB pronouncementsPeopleSoft: including processing of journal entries to the general ledger, running and building PeopleSoft Nvision reports, and running and building PeopleSoft queries desiredHyperion Essbase Retrieve experience desired
