AVP/VP European Real Estate Equity

Business Unit: GE CorporateFunction: Asset ManagementResponsibilities: GEAM's Real Estate group manages the real estate investment activity for GEPT, several commingled funds, as well as other affiliated entities. The total investments under management are in excess of $3B consisting of direct equity investment in real estate assets, investments in externally managed real estate specific funds and secured debt, in properties located in North America, Europe and Asia.A successful candidate for this position will be focused exclusively on the existing portfolio investments in Europe and will be expected to source, underwrite, close and manage new investments to be added to the existing portfolio.Initially located in Stamford to provide the individual with a full understanding of the processes and philosophy of GEAM and to facilitate the establishment of strong working relationships, the individual will be expected to relocate to Europe within a two-year period.To achieve this the successful candidate will:
Be involved in all aspects of the sourcing, underwriting, negotiation, approval, closing and management/monitoring of new European real estate investments.
Become familiar with and assume Asset Management responsibilities for existing portfolio investments.
Proactively establish and maintain business contacts and relationships necessary for sourcing new investment opportunities.
Be able to add value to portfolio investments through providing creative solution and maintaining excellent partner and partnership relations.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: o At least 7 years experience with a minimum of 5 years business/transactional experience in real estate with deal evaluation, acquisition, or investment underwriting
Strong understanding of financial statements
Ability to develop/analyze financial structures
Strong spreadsheet modeling skills
Effective negotiation, communication, interpersonal skills
Independent self starter and team player
You must have Legal authorization to work in the United States.
You will have the ability to travel (international) without restrictions for around 50 - 70% of the time
Flexibility to travel on short notice as needed in the deal process
Willing to work long hours as needed
Willing and able to initially work from US Office and willing to relocate to Europe within 2 yearsDesired: o Debt or Equity underwriting experience
MBA / Audit Staff
Ability to develop strong working relationships with business unit managers and private equity fund relationships while maintaining independence.
External client relationships management experience.
Demonstrated success in assessing data and identifying income generating opportunities.
Make tough decisions to the benefit of the organization.
