AVP - Reinsurance Accounting

Classification: Full Time Compensation: $110,000 to $140,000 per year Our client located in Alpharetta is looking for a AVP - Reinsurance Accounting tp join their team. The AVP - Reinsurance Accounting will be responsible for managing the Reinsurance Accounting Department. The primary responsibility of the Reinsurance Accounting Department is to ensure that all ceded reinsurance transactions for the client are accounted for and reported in accordance with applicable GAAP and Statutory accounting provisions. This AVP must have extensive P&C reinsurance accounting experience. In addition, this AVP will have significant interaction with company management, external and internal auditors, and state examiners. The AVP will be responsible for managing 2 people. A detailed list of responsibilities includes but is not limited to the following:
• Review and approve calculation and journal entries for monthly ceded transactions.
• Review and approve reconciliations of ceded reinsurance general ledger accounts.
• Research and determine appropriate accounting for ceded reinsurance transactions including commutations, reinstatement premium, and adjustable commissions.
• Review all ceded reinsurance agreements and document risk transfer conclusions.
• Coordinate with Actuarial Department to determine appropriate allocation methodology for ceded IBNR by treaty.
• Review and approve calculation of necessary collateral requirements by reinsurer.
• Review Schedule F, ceded reinsurance interrogatories, and ceded reinsurance notes for the Annual Statements of four insurance companies.
• Develop and maintain process for evaluating and estimating uncollectible reinsurance recoverables.
• Perform risk transfer evaluations for reinsurance transactions.
• Coordinate and document the NAIC Ceded Reinsurance Attestation for four companies.
• Perform financial analysis of monthly ceded reinsurance activity.
• Prepare and review various ceded reinsurance financial reports requested by Senior Management.
