This position has overall responsibility for the learning strategy to support the organization performance and development goals for the Institutional Employee Benefits Sales organization overall. In addition, this role will also interface with the Product Development groups to ensure the effective support of product rollouts and knowledge across all of Institutional (Sales, Service and Product groups). In doing so, he/she will work across multiple sales groups to define a common strategy, (including Small Market, Voluntary Products, Mid to Large Market, National Accounts, Corporate Benefit Funding, Disability Income) to create and direct the implementation of a strategy for a range of training and non-training solutions that are tied to achieving the units' long-term business objectives. The candidate will need to interface with senior leaders across the Sales Organization, 3 product development segments and the service organization to align resources and focus.
In this role, the candidate will manage and develop a professional team of 10 Learning & Development consultants focused on performance improvement and large scale project management. They will also work with organizational and functional objectives. He/she will also contribute as a senior management member in the businesses, attending regular meetings and contributing to and occasionally leading business initiatives that effect positive and measurable change. He/she will also contribute as a senior leader within the Learning & Development and broader HR organization.

*Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate and build lasting, productive relationships with all levels within and outside the organization; ability to troubleshoot, influence, and break down barriers for self and team within a matrix organization.
*Experience leading professional teams, including retaining, developing, and managing staff and creating and managing a budget
*Highly competent and experienced in adult learning principles and contemporary learning theory and practices, including needs analysis, curriculum design, interactive learning technology, evaluation, and overall performance consulting and organizational development principles, including competency modeling
*Strong focus and experience on business impact analysis and measurement
*Ability to provide holistic solutions that take into account sales and service perspectives
*Ability to develop short and long-term strategies and create and implement plans through others in a dynamic and changing environment with competing priorities
*Excellent written and oral communication skills, including planning and facilitating meetings and writing reports to build commitment, share information, gather input, and accomplish tasks
*At least 8 years' relevant experience; Masters Degree in Business Administration, Education, Instructional Design, Communications, HR or a related discipline with experience preferred
*Proven experience with identifying learning synergies within organizations/units and creating plans to leverage them
*Experience with and highly competent in process management and organization effectiveness; Financial services industry experience preferred, especially in voluntary group insurance; experience in sales organization in management or revenue capacity preferred
