Value Stream Manager
Our client is an international automotive component manufacturer and due to increase business is looking for a Value Stream Manager.
The Value Stream Manager provides leadership and direction for a given value stream within an organization. Their job is to make sure value is being created for the customer in terms of products and services. They are responsible for their value streams’ performance with respect to cost, inventory turns, on-time delivery, lead-time and quality. The value stream manager may not have direct control over many organizational functions like procurement, engineering, finance, order management and sales & marketing but they have the responsibility to work cooperatively with other functional leaders and managers to optimize the entire value stream in the eyes of the customer.
The value stream manager is relentless about continuous improvement.
FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
1. Lead and manage production supervision, quality and manufacturing engineering to achieve company goals. This individual will be responsible for 25 direct and 225 indirect employees in an union environment.
2. Analyze problems, account for variances, drive for root cause and implement improved methods and procedures.
3. Create, review and update improvement plans, at a minimum, on a monthly basis.
4. Allocate the necessary resources to meet external and internal commitments while maintaining budgetary control.
5. Assure that appropriate equipment is provided, adequately maintained and safely operated.
6. Evaluate potential of new equipment and initiate capital equipment requests.
7. Assure that capacity levels are maintained to match demand in the short term and long term.
8. Participate in long-range planning and budget preparation.
9. Work closely with engineering, procurement, contracts and customer support, product support, sales & marketing, finance and other functional organizations as well as customers and suppliers to meet or exceed customer needs.
10. Develop key employees. Participate in company dialogues regarding employee performance to assure that deserving employees are recognized and that under performing employees are given the direction required to improve their performance.
REQUIREMENTS
POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in production management or related field.
Experience:
· Proven leadership abilities
· Previous experience in first and second level manufacturing supervision.
· Background in industrial or manufacturing engineering.
· Lean Black Belt or higher certification and track record of implementation.
· Advanced body of knowledge of lean techniques with track record of implementation.
· Relentless about continuous improvement.
· Ability to effectively organize several distinct functions, establish levels of responsibility, delegate appropriate authority and review the work and performance of subordinates in a manner conducive to efficient performance and high morale.
· Ability to prepare comprehensive and accurate reports, forecasts, estimates and budgets.
· Ability to create and manage a value stream plan.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees, across all functions of the organization including customers and suppliers.
· Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal.
