The Vehicle Mechanic II is the primary point of contact in the Ft. Myers District who works with associates and local leadership to address vehicle issues. The Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing vehicles currently in fleet; conducts the pre-delivery inspections on all new vehicles; and prepares replaced vehicles for disposal. Attendance, conduct and performance records will be considered in the selection process. Job bidding selection will be administered under mutually agreed upon guidelines of the local labor agreement with IBEW 199.
JOB REQUIREMENTS


1. Job requires vocational skills and procedural knowledge typically gained through a combination of education and relevant experience totaling 2-years post-high school or equivalent

2. Vehicle mechanical experience with current ASE certifications with expectations of achieving a Master ASE Certification.

3. Capable of performing vehicle maintenance, inspections, and repairs of passenger vehicles, light trucks, heavy trucks, aerial devises, and trailers

4. Must be proficient with a PC/computer for accessing and tracking vehicle information and be able to use Microsoft Office for creating and modifying reports. Previous vehicle management data program experience a plus

5. Must be a self-motivated individual with the ability to work with minimal direct supervision.

6. Possess a valid Florida CDL driver's license with an acceptable driving record preferred

7. Excellent customer relation and organizational skills.

8. Effective analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.

9. General Motors specific training preferred

10. Light welding and cutting experience for some fabrication activities

11. Preferred ASE certifications: Engine, Brakes, A/C, and Electronics
