Used Car Assistant Sales Manager

SUMMARY:

The ASM will be responsible for staffing and supervising a team of salespeople in the selling of pre-owned vehicles. The Pre-Owned ASM will also assist the Used Car Director and/or GSM in planning, organizing, controlling, and measuring the salespersons activity and productivity within the Pre-Owned Car Departments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Recruit, interview and select salespeople on a continuous as needed basis. Work closely with the dealership Recruiter/Human Resource person to establish a workable succession/hiring plan.
Maintain at least a 90% staffing level at all times.
Train, supervise, motivate, resolve conflict and build teams of salespeople to enhance the sales of pre-owned vehicles.
Follow up, teach and coach each salesperson on the usage of the VT/AIG 12 step sales process.
Establish long and short term goals as directed by the Sales Manager for their assigned salespeople
Guide the salespeople in setting their objectives on a long and short-range basis.
Work with salespeople to maximize the front end gross profit on every car deal.
Set sales objectives for his/her salespeople and/or team.
Follow up and enforce all dealership policies and procedures as they relate to proper employee conduct.
Evaluate monthly the sales performance of each assigned salesperson.
Assist and follow up with salespeople in the development and execution of their daily work plan.
Ensure that salespeople follow the proper “logging” procedures on each and every customer.
Assist in developing training programs to help salespeople who are falling short of their sales objectives.
Work closely with Used Car Director to determine the disciplinary action for salespeople who consistently fall short of their sales goals and objectives.
Conduct daily/weekly sales meetings to include motivational and sales training topics.
Work closely with salespeople to enhance their success in setting appointments, following up on referrals and performing “cold call” prospecting duties.
Educate salespeople on the basic processes covered by the Finance and Insurance producers.
Work closely with other departments to enhance the overall the customer experience.
Monitor and follow up with salespeople who “customer service index” scores are below zone or dealership, whichever is lower.
Conduct one-on-one performance evaluations for all salespeople on their team on a daily basis
REQUIREMENTS
Valid Drivers License. Willing to set and meet daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly goals.
