Systems Engineer / Mainframe Storage Administrator

Fast Switch is a tier one consulting firm for a major automotive company in the Detroit area. There is an immediate need for a contract employee.
Position Title: Systems Engineering SeniorDuration: 24 Months
Position Description:Perform Daily MVS Storage Administrator activities for assigned mainframe facilities ¿ tasks include Systems Managed Storage (SMS) facility data pool management, HSM data facility backup management, analyzing, testing and preparing DASD for data pool deployment. Assist in implementing storage management optimization and exploiting capabilities provided within SMS and Z/OS. Support assigned facilities' DR and HA infrastructures utilizing IBM PPRC, etc... Support assigned facilities' Virtual Tape System (VTS) environment.
REQUIREMENTS
Skills Required:Working knowledge of IBM MVS - JES2 and JES3 and VM environments. Working knowledge of IBM mainframe storage architectures - DFSMS, DFDSS, DFHSM, ISMF and tape management techniques and procedures. Working knowledge of OEM products - BMC Mainview, MainStar Catalog Suite, FDR, CA-1, SAS, and Syncsort. Working knowledge of ICF catalog environment, maintenance and recovery procedures.
Skills Preferred:Working knowledge of REXX, Clist, IBM standard utilities and ISPF dialog.
Experience Required:5 years experience in IBM MVS - JES2 and JES3 and VM environments. 5 years experience in IBM mainframe storage architectures - DFSMS, DFDSS, DFHSM, ISMF and tape management techniques and procedures. 5 years experience in OEM products - BMC Mainview, MainStar Catalog Suite, FDR, CA-1, SAS, and Syncsort. 3 years experience in ICF catalog environment, maintenance and recovery procedures.

Education Required:A Bachelors degree or higher in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS) or related technical discipline.
Education Preferred:Mainframe product certifications are a PLUS. Semi-annual ¿ Ford Data Center awareness training is required.
Additional Safety Training/Licensing/Personal Protection Requirements:Additional Information :Ability to work independently on critical tasks with high quality results. All candidates will be required to successfully complete a Ford designed and administered competency test. Candidate will be required to be on call during non-business hours.
