Sr. Buyer

This position is responsible for meeting purchasing needs in an assigned area of commodities and/or services, including planning, requisition review, supplier selection, order placement, and follow-up.

1. Assist the site Purchasing Manager in development of a solid vendor base for the commodities assigned.
2. Works with the site’s internal departments to ensure that their requirements for materials or supplies are procured according to their needs for the least total overall cost.
3. Works with incumbent suppliers to reduce cost reductions on a regular basis
4. Performs independent research on a regular basis to locate and qualify potential suppliers
5. Prepare and distribute as required reports on the activities of the Purchasing Department for management
6. Leads or participate in Value Analysis teams designed to reduce waste and increase value
7. Participates as needed on new product development teams
8. Effectively communicate with all internal departments and management as needed
9. Becomes knowledgeable about laws and regulations that pertain to the procurement of these requirements as they pertain to the delivery and usage of the specified item.
10. Becomes knowledgeable about company purchasing policy and requisition and purchasing procedures, and have the ability to communicate same to all internal customers.
11. Reviews all received requisitions of required material and service for completeness, description, appropriate approval, delivery date, and designated receipt point.
12. Develops and executes effective bidding, negotiation and pricing strategies to provide company with the best value in the market place for the dollars spent, operating in a manner that meets the policies, ethical standards, and audit requirements of Accuride Corporation
13. Negotiates, place orders, and enter into contracts for the procurement as necessary for required materials and services to ensure timely delivery with maximum company benefit
14. Expedites delinquent purchase orders as necessary
15. Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
•Undergraduate degree in either Business, Engineering or Finance plus, preferably, professional certification in Purchasing (A.P.P. or C.P.M.)
•Technical background in Engineering a huge plus.
•Minimum 5 years of purchasing experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment. MRO and Capex Purchasing experience preferred
