REQUIREMENTS
Requirements for position:Education: Prefer a High School diploma or GED, and RV dealership-sponsored or trade school training.
Experience: Must have at least 2 years of related experience to qualify as a Technician. Must be proficient in diagnosis and repair of all RV Coach Systems including: A/C, Refrigeration, Heating, Water Heaters, Electrical and LP Gas. Must be familiar with the installation and repair of RV accessories, including: awnings, antennas, satellite dishes, leveling jacks, and brake systems.
Skills: Must have mechanical and electrical aptitude and skills, and be able to repair and maintain equipment. Must have good reasoning and troubleshooting skills to diagnose and repair equipment.
Physical: Must be able to stand for long periods of time, bend, twist, stretch, squat, balance and lift up to 80 pounds unassisted. Must have command of sight, hearing, touch, and smell senses.
Mental: Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English and be able to interpret, mechanical drawings and manufacturers' service manuals and electrical schematics. Must be able, or trainable, to operate computer to enter orders, look up parts, and perform other data lookup or entry. Must be able to calculate labor and trip charges and parts costs to create invoices and collect payment.
A valid, appropriate class State driver's license and ability to meet insurance requirements to drive company and customer vehicles.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Service, maintain, and repair customer-owned and parts and equipment sold and serviced by Camping Connection, most often without direct supervision. Must be able to review and follow work orders, use service manuals, diagnostic tools, and personal knowledge to determine root cause of malfunctioning parts, equipment and systems and effect job completion as scheduled.
Will be required to talk to customer to find out and/or resolve problems, instruct, review prices and invoice, and collect payment. Cheerful and knowledgeable communication is expected.
Identify parts and specialty tools needed to effect repairs. All parts taken from inventory must be documented on Work Orders.
Document all repair work including all parts and supplies used, as well as all labor operations performed and time spent. Manufacturer or other standard book labor times may be used as a measurement.
Dependable attendance and overtime work, as required, is expected.
Maintenance of assigned company tools, parts, and all other assets is assumed.
Technicians are expected to maintain a specific percentage of billed labor hours v.s. clock card hours(70% of your time).
The Service Manager will schedule and prioritize work orders. Keep the Service Manager informed of the status of each repair worked on.
Must understand and follow all safety procedures (safety glasses, proper lifting techniques, jack stands, etc.). Not following safety procedures may endanger yourself and other people. Failure to follow safety procedures will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
Must understand purpose and safe use of common shop tools (air ratchets, impact wrenches, common hand tools, etc.) and diagnostic test equipment needed to perform duties.
May be required to assist customers with technical questions about the proper operation of their equipment or to show them the right way to use their equipment.
Clean up work area at the end of the day. Make sure paperwork is completed and tools and supplies are put away. Assist with keeping yard, parking area, driveway, walkways, storefront, work bays, and shop areas clean and free of hazards.
Liaison with Parts, Warranty, and other employees as needed.
