Mechanic
Company: North America Mining Job Function: Skilled Trades Job Description: Major Responsibilities: Perform routine and preventative maintenance on various operating equipment and systems in a highly industrial setting.
Perform intermediate/advanced machining and heavy machinery maintenance within the Crushing and Conveying or Mill Department (e.g., Lining ball mills, chutes and drop boxes, bearing and gear replacement, conveyor belt maintenance, hydraulic lube systems, copper and molybdenum floatation circuits and filters, HDPE pipe fusion, pump repair-rebuild).
Welding, fabrication, cutting
Operate light to heavy mobile equipment efficiently without incident.
Duties will include but are not limited to the removal, repair and installation of mechanical components and intermediate to advanced troubleshooting.
-High School diploma or equivalent.
2-4 years of mechanical maintenance experience in a similar industrial setting and experience operating light to heavy industrial machines and equipment.
Proficient use of hand tools.
Welding, fabrication and blue print reading/interpretation
Demonstrated focus on safety and the environment.
Ability to adapt to change and to communication with all employees at all levels.
Willing to work with and be a contributing member of a team.
Willing to work in all weather conditions.
Good attendance record and willingness to work rotating shifts
Ability to lift 50 lbs when necessary
Ability to negotiate multiple flights of stairsPreferred Qualifications:

Candidate's qualifications will be assessed and if determined not at the level of PM3 (Mechanic), can may be selected to fill PM2 (Maintenance Helper position).
Work is performed in a mine or manufacturing plant which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see.
Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy to heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the course of the workday.
Personal protective equipment is required on a regular basis, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety foot wear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and other protective equipment as required.
