Mechanic - 2nd Shift
Liquid Transport Corp (LTC) is a national, high-volume, bulk transportation company. We are a financially solid company and we are very well-respected in the trucking industry. We have been in business over 65 years.We have a position open for a Mechanic.
After one month of 1st shift training, the shift is Mon-Fri, 11:00 am to 9:30 pm.A GREAT benefit package is provided including medical/dental/vision insurance, company paid life insurance, company paid short-term disability insurance, voluntary long-term disability insurance, 401 k with employer match of 50 cents on the dollar up to 6%, free access to a licensed financial advisor, paid holidays, paid vacation, etc.Position is hourly, with over-time paid after 50 hours.General summary: Maintain and service tractors and/or trailers at prescribed intervals making repairs to equipment as necessary in a safe, timely and cost effective manner; complete and maintain all service and maintenance records.Principal Duties and Responsibilities:1.Inspect and service tractors and/or trailers at prescribed intervals.
2.Make all repairs to tractors and/or trailers as necessary for safe operation.
3.Complete and maintain records of service, maintenance, costs and inspections.
4.Follow company guidelines in regards to acceptable conduct when dealing with supervisors, shop personnel, drivers, and customers projecting an image of quality and professionalism at all times.
5.Comply with all established company policies and procedures, as well as local, state, and federal law.
REQUIREMENTS
1.Must have a minimum of 3 years experience in diesel repair or trailer repair.
2.Must have valid driver’s license if leaving the premises on any company-related business in any vehicle. CDL is required if driving off premises in a commercial vehicle. MVR will be reviewed.
3.Must be able to pass a D.O.T. physical and drug test.
4.Must be able to meet D.O.T. drug testing requirements (3 years of prior employment checks).
5.Must be able to safely operate a tractor/trailer unit within the terminal premises.
6.Must be able to meet the brake inspection requirements stipulated in section 396.25 of the federal motor carrier safety regulations.
7.Must be able to diagnose mechanical, electrical or other failure to a tractor or trailer.
8.Must be able to read, write and understand the English language to the extent necessary to familiarize self with company policy as well as state and federal rules and regulations; to comprehend technical manuals; to properly complete all repair and maintenance reports.
9.Must be able to read precision instrument such as oxygen explosion meter and thickness gauges.
10.Must be able to work efficiently and safely, whether under supervision or not, both within the shop area and when making a road call.
11.When applicable, must have welding skills and knowledge of metals to complete tractor or trailer repairs.Physical demands :
1.Must be able to grasp, lift and properly use all power and hand tools.
2.Must be able to stand for extended periods of time on a concrete floor.
3.Must be able to walk, bend, reach, stoop, squat, kneel, and see, crawl under or climb upon tank trailer to inspect, repair or replace domes, valves, vents, or other equipment when necessary or enter through the tank's manhole into the interior of the cargo tank.
4.Must be able to push, pull, grasp, and lift to ensure proper treatment of various required components that include, but are not limited to air compressors, fuel pumps, hubs, wheels, and springs any of which may exceed 100 pounds in weight.
