To support this continued growth, we are seeking a Director of Global Sourcing and Logistics.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

The Director of Global Sourcing & Logistics will report to the President or VP of Operations. This position will have several direct reports.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Director of Global Sourcing & Logistics will oversee global purchasing for raw materials and the transportation of both raw materials and finished goods for a total spend growing to more than $150 Million. This individual will manage several buyers sourcing and global strategy for the corporation. This individual will be responsible for identifying "Best-In-Class" suppliers and developing policies to ensure sound supplier management and effective negotiations, while maximizing cost reduction opportunities. A key focus will be to develop and maximize the consolidating and leveraging of purchases on a global basis to ensure excellent supplier relations exist, while improving the best cost position. The individual will ensure adequate inventory levels are maintained for production and work closely with engineering product development teams. And, will ensure 100% on time delivery of raw materials and finished goods using strong import/export strategies.

This selected Candidate will:Direct and manage all Global purchasing activities with overall responsibility for developing strategic purchasing direction and sourcing initiatives, and supporting operational buying at the plant level.
Develop, document, and implement supplier/commodity risk strategies encompassing price, business, and capacity issues.
Develop strategies and tactics to optimize contract negotiation with suppliers.
Obtain agreements on pricing, delivery, and other terms.
Resolve contract difference/disputes with suppliers.
Obtain legal review and approval of all contracts.
Responsible for the development and management of global supply chain as it relates to procurement of materials and product from other countries.
Interview and select supply vendors for volume contracts in order to optimize total delivered costs.
Conduct visits with suppliers to evaluate and analyze vendor capacity and performance.
Solicit and evaluate competitive bids, including specifications, terms and conditions.
Develop and implement cost-reduction/cost avoidance programs.
Participate in supplier Six Sigma/Lean events and arrange supplier participation in Company’s Six Sigma/Lean events.
Design and implement purchasing information systems including ERP implementation.
Develop and assist in the implementation of the company’s Best-In-Class sourcing management processes.
Develop and implement internal and external strategic sourcing communication programs.
Manage the flow of raw materials and finished goods globally through a well developed logistics strategy.
Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, continuing education, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest trends in Materials Management and the Supply Chain.
Be responsible for performance management and career development for all direct reports.
Comply with the Code of Business Conduct
Will have direct authority and accountability for:
Developing annual department objectives in concert with company goals
Monthly reporting activities
Sourcing raw material and components
TCOA (total cost of acquisition)
Materials acquisition supply chain process
Vendor selection, development and performance
Commodity strategies
Contract negotiations and management
VA/VE activities

Will have accountability with higher approval necessary for: Alternate material and/or manufacturer for component
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION

A Bachelor’s from an accredited university degree is required. An advanced degree such as a Master of Business Administration is strongly preferred.

EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate will have: A minimum of 10 years experience in Purchasing in a manufacturing company
Import/Export experience and “laymens” familiarity with legal environment; procedures and policies
Experience with Six Sigma, Lean manufacturing, and Kaizen
International logistics experience
Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills
Knowledge to budget and analyze financial data
Be able to relate to individuals at all levels of the organization.
Have intermediate-to-advanced knowledge of the MS Office Suite.
Ability to travel 25% of the time. International travel is required in this position
APICS, CRIM certification preferred
