Websphere Technical Analyst - Administrator

FIDM is looking for an experienced Websphere Technical Analyst to work with our Technical Architects on 1) advising IT management on IBM Websphere technical strategies, 2) recommending solutions that improve organizational operations, and 3) developing standards and best practices. The ideal candidate provides their technical expertise and guidance on Websphere/J2EE administration, approaches, process re-engineering and design.
Responsibilities for this position include:
Install, configure, test and ensure Websphere product architectures and J2EE-based solutions represent sound directions for FIDM, taking into consideration existing environment and anticipation of future growth.Articulate key aspects of Websphere architecture and design through models, documentation, and code, and prototype proof of concept technical solutions.Ensure that standards are followed through training and guidance for development and operations personnel on Websphere techniques, tools, and trends in technology.Provide leadership and guidance on technical aspects of Websphere, and
serve as a technical expert and resource to the department.Evaluate software and advise Technical Architects and Application Development Supervisor on compatibility with existing environment and ability to meet standards.Serve as project manager on IT Websphere architecture projects, and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction through effective communication and innovative development of integration solutions.Prepare project status reports and keep management, and others informed of status and related issues.Prepare test plans and preform thorough testing to ensure hardware and software are set up properly and efficiently.Prepare and perform implementation and execution back-out plans, if
required.Maintain currency on both hardware and software in all of Websphere-based products (IBM Portal, Commerce, Payment Manageer, etc.)Keep supervisor abreast of status on projects (delays, glitches, unclear requirements, etc.)Participate in strategic planning for the department (including
researching and recommending solutions).Attend various othe rmeetings as needed.Submit weekly status reports.Stay current on new developments and trends in IT that may affect FIDM and provide recommendations and suggestions to supervisor.May serve as a team member on other projects.Mandatory attendance at monthly staff meetings.Mandatory attendance at annual weekend staff retreat.All other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or CIO
REQUIREMENTS
Required Skills and Experience:
4 years in systems integration, package implementation, and/or interactive design and architecture experience.Strong experience with administration of J2EE applications on WebSphere v4 or higher.Experience implementing in WebSphere Products (Application Server, Portal, and/or Commerce and Payment Manager) and knowledge of their placement within the IBM product line.Experience in load balancing, Websphere security, asynchronous messaging, web services and implementation.Knowledge of authentication, Authorization, LDAP and SSL.Experience with HTTP servers (Apache.)Ability to identify and articulate infrastructure requirements for applications built with IBM technologies such as Portal Server, Websphere Commerce, Payment Manager, etc.Ability to think strategically.Ability to use discretion and independent judgment with little to no supervision.Ability to multitask and adapt to change.Strong leadership and mentoring skills to effectively manage teams.Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.Strong follow-through skills.Strong communication skills.
Desired Skills and Experience:
Understanding of the Websphere product line within the iSeries environment.Knowledge or experience with ANT scripting and/or LinuxKnowledge of web presentation level (e.g., J2EE, CGI, HTML, DHTML, XML, JavaScript, Java) and cross-browser issues.Experience in WAS 6.0 a plus or IBM Content Management would be a plus.Understanding of object oriented design principles.Understanding of the project life cycle.Knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture and business modeling.Knowledge of web development techniques and browser behavior.
