The primary focus is in the areas of either freight claims or import/export transactions. The position will allow flexibility so that crossfunctional tasks can be performed by one person. Prepare Supply Chain ad hoc or monthly reports of claims and import-export activity via Showcase, Excel, Access, or JDE. Support the Financial Services area by supplying proof of delivery and associated shipping documentation to allow them to pursue collection of past due invoices and charge backs. Review and resolve all shortage and product mix claims, using available tracking information, and issue correcting adjustments or letters of repayment to the account depending upon the circumstances of the claim. Interact with selected carriers, insurance company, and/or corporate logistics staff in regard to claims resolution and application of monies collected from the carriers and insurance company. Coordinate document flow to facilitate shipments through U.S. Customs and other Government Agencies, using the government's Harmonized System schedule A & B. Prepare Export documentation for outbound shipments from Melville and other locations, including filing Shipper's Export Declaration via government-required AES Direct (Automated Export Software). Perform other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS
(ONLY QUALFIED CANDIDATES WILL BE CONSIDERED) A minimum of 4 years prior customer service, shipping and/or logistics experience is required. Familiarity with import-export regulations and practices is highly desirable. Must be able to interact with fellow employees and outside contracts. A strong set of systems skills (JD Edwards, Showcase) and PC knowledge (i.e., Excel, Access) are necessary. Must have the ability to pay attention to detail in times of high transaction levels.
