Temporary Office Assistant

The Dormitory Authority of the State of New York provides financing and construction services to public and private universities, not-for-profit healthcare facilities, and other institutions which serve the greater public good.

We currently have an opportunity for a Temporary Office Assistant to work at our headquarters in Albany, NY for approximately 8 – 12 weeks. This position is located in the Risk Management unit. The Office Assistant provides clerical and general office support to the department staff.

The hourly rate for this full-time position is $14.00/hour.

Primary Responsibilities:

Assist in collecting, verifying, and processing/preparing documentation for compliance with Authority bond issues.
Assist in monitoring insurance provided by contractors/professionals, including data entry, preparing reports, preparing letters to contractors and/or insurance brokers, and following up on requests for insurance information.
Maintain databases and other electronic records including creating new records, updating existing information, and developing/generating reports.
Maintain files of correspondence, documents and materials; extract requested materials from files and periodically purge obsolete items from files as directed.
Assist in preparing insurance premium allocations and tracking/maintaining policy-related materials.
Process third party administrator, legal, and other invoices and maintain associated documentation.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:

A High School Diploma or equivalent plus three years relevant experience or an Associate’s degree plus one year relevant experience. Clerical insurance industry experience is preferred.

Good verbal & written communication skills
Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail
Proficiency in MS Office applications such as MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook & PowerPoint
Good interpersonal skills
Good organizational skills
