Technical Clerk
This is a full-time, fiscal year permanent position reporting to the Director of Admissions and New Student Advising. The Technical Clerk in the department of Admissions and New Student Advising is responsible for assisting new students in the admissions process as well as providing support to International students.
Essential Job Functions:
Assist students at the front desk of Admissions and Advising in a variety of ways to provide accurate information and help with the next step to enroll at Southwest; assist students wishing to speak with recruiting or advising staff.
Perform duties to support recruiting and advising including: phone support, data entry and maintenance of prospect data, event set-up, assistance with registration, sending application and admission information to prospective students; packet and letter processing.
Assist International students with the application and admission process, explain international policies and procedures and coordinate files for review. Maintain data regarding International student population.
Serve as point of contact for the Southwest internal community wishing to contact the recruiting office to schedule their services and to answer questions concerning international student admission requirements.
Comply with Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) in all duties; consistently follow Southwest Policies and approved work processes.

Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; bilingual preferred.
Two (2) years responsible clerical/data entry experience.
One (1) year telephone/front office customer service experience.
Ability to read and interpret general business policy; write clear and concise business correspondence; develop and maintain effective working relationships with students, the pubic and other employees.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables; understand and follow instructions and policy furnished in written, oral, diagram of schedule form.
Computer skills should include a working knowledge of database software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software; and the ability to learn the student information system.Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Current Drivers License.
Some travel between the two main campuses and site locations.
Work evenings and weekends as needed.
