Kansas City Art Institute’s office of special events seeks a part-time assistant to help with planning, organization and execution of special events and event-related activities. Events are held both on and off campus and include a wide variety of activities including commencement exercises, exhibit openings, outside income-generating opportunities and fundraising events.
The position will have some work schedule flexibility but on average will work 20 hours per week. The hourly wage is $12.50. Occasional weekend and evening hours will be required and the appointee must be available to work full-time temporarily in the spring and possibly at other unanticipated times.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to event planning, organization and execution, development and maintenance of special event tools and templates, event research and analysis, and general administrative tasks as needed.
Applicants must be professional, personable and articulate (able to communicate easily and clearly both in person and on the phone), organized and detail-oriented, have basic computer skills, excellent writing skills, and work well under pressure. Multi-tasking is a must! Prior work experience in some capacity of event planning and/or execution is required. The successful applicant must have own car and be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Kansas City Art Institute is a four-year, private, independent and accredited college of art and design. Founded in 1885, the College is located in the cultural heart of metropolitan Kansas City, in immediate proximity to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, and the new H&R Block Artspace at Kansas City Art Institute. The college enrolls over 600 undergraduate students drawn from throughout the United States and several other countries. The faculty is comprised of more than 40 practicing artists and scholars teaching full-time, and an additional 30 part-time lecturers. A strong visiting artists program complements the academic program.
