Server Administrator / Network Analyst
Designs, installs, modifies, administers, and makes minor repairs to computer/network hardware and software systems, evaluates client's needs relating to network and Windows server administration issues and provides technical assistance and training to system users by performing the following duties:
Installs or assists service personnel in installation of hardware and peripheral components such as servers, desktop PCs, networking components, monitors, keyboards, printers, and disk drives on company's premises and on-site at client's facilities.
Prepares proposals, cost estimates and purchase requisitions for computer component selection.
Handles receipt and shipment of systems and components for company and client projects.
Specific Duties:
Windows OS server installation, administration, monitoring, and tuning for large user base.
Troubleshooting problems with Microsoft and other software/hardware vendors.
Coordinate with other company and/or client administrators.
Mail server system administration (build, move, tune, debug).
Tier-3 support for Windows based workstations, including development and installation of package builds.
MS Office testing, deployment, and upgrade installations.
WSUS and/or MS SMS administration and deployment.
LAN/WAN troubleshooting assistance relating to MS products.
Support of network environments consisting of Windows based servers and workstations and UNIX / Linux servers.
CISCO router, switches and firewall administration.
Tracks, retrieves, evaluates, and installs revisions, upgrades, and patches on computer systems. Replaces defective or inadequate software packages.
Answers client's inquires concerning systems operation. Diagnoses system hardware, software, and operator problems. Recommends or performs minor remedial actions to correct problems based on knowledge of system operation.
Refers major hardware problems to service personnel for correction.
Develops and maintains installation, integration, and upgrade documentation.
Provides on-going system administration for company's client/server system and networks.
Provides user training when necessary.
REQUIREMENTS
Required:
Server Hardware: -- Significant installation, configuration, and administration experience.
Network Hardware: -- Significant installation and administration experience with LAN switches and modems.
Software: -- Significant installation and administration experience with Microsoft platforms (2000, 2003, XP, etc), related management utilities (IIS, SMS, Active Directory, Group Policies, etc) and related Microsoft Office suite of tools.
Desired:
Experience with client/server database software installations (Oracle, SQL Server)
Experience with installation and administration of UNIX / Linux platforms.
Network Hardware: -- Significant installation and administration experience with LAN/WAN routers/bridges, and firewalls.
EDUCATION
Technical bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from four-year college or university, or 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
