Senior Systems Administrator

Presently, we are evaluating candidates interested in pursuing a career as a Senior Systems Administrator.
JOB COMPETENCIES (NEGOTIATION, BUSINESS ACUMEN, PRESENTATION SKILLS, ETC.)
Provide consultative support for the Windows OS and Application/System design and implementation to NAM’s internal business units, departments and end users. Research and introduce IT related technologies that are inline with NAM’s business direction and initiatives. Work independently or in teams on IT projects, complex assignments and company initiatives.
The person in this position has achieved a level of seniority and is expected to assist in managing project plans, directing other technical resources assigned to the project and offering ideas on how to improve a project or the team in general. Given the nature of technical support, the person in this position must be willing to work evenings and weekends as appropriate.
JOB RESONSIBILITIES
- Research, design, implement and maintain IT system solutions on Windows 2003, Web/Internet and other IS infrastructures.
- Proactively support and maintain Microsoft 2003 servers systems, hardware, Operating System and Domains, in remote/core offices and hosting co-locations.
- Manage and maintain Windows 2003 backup jobs and Windows 2003 schedule tasks.
- Manage WINS/DNS/DHCP/IAS network applications.
- Manage DFS and Virtual Server.
- Manage and support hardware RAID systems
- Flawless execution of technical projects to ensure maximum availability of the necessary infrastructure to support all business applications.
- Keep abreast of new technologies and, as appropriate, recommend such technologies that can improve business performance at an acceptable cost.
- Work closely with the Applications team to ensure a high degree of success in all their efforts.
- Work with the V.P. of Windows Technology in providing direction to less experienced members of the team and by offering suggestions for ways to improve the service levels of the group.
- Assist senior management in directing other technical resources on the team.
- Document server and application configurations, processes, and create end user instruction guides.
- Provide scheduled and after hours support as needed for NAM’s Windows based applications.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science and or LAN/WAN/Internet networking technologies.
- Microsoft Certification - MCSA, MCSE
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
- 3 years of experience supporting Microsoft Windows 2003.
- 3 years designing Active Directory domain infrastructure for Microsoft Windows networks.
- Experience with the basic fundamentals of designing and supporting LAN / WAN infrastructure.
- Experience with supporting Microsoft Terminal Server and/or Citrix Metaframe based applications.
- Experience with administrating Internet/Intranet web-hosting - IIS/TomCat, Exchange 2003, SQL Server 2005, and SharePoint (highly desirable)
Job RequirementsTECHNICAL SKILLS (INCLUDING PC SKILLS)
- Must have a working knowledge of DNS, WINS, DHCP, Active Directory, TCP/IP.
- Knowledge of SharePoint, InfoPath and MS SQL Server is desirable.
- Proficient in supporting Microsoft Windows 2003 operating systems and domain environments.
- Experience with .Net, HTML, and VBS batch Programming/Scripting.
- Experience with internet/intranet Web-hosting, Email administration, Database administration, and end user workstation administration.
- Technical writing documentation skills
- Demonstrable ability to quickly learn new technologies.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS OR PREFERRED SKILLS (I.E. TRAVEL)
- Positive attitude and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Willingness to work extended hours and/or weekends to accommodate necessary maintenance windows.
- Willingness to travel to remote offices in North America.
