Senior IT Support Administrator - Leading Semiconductor Co

We are recruiting for a Senior IT Support Administrator to work for our client who is one of the world’s fastest growing Wireless Semiconductor companies. This particular position is located in their Auburn Hills, Michigan location. The company's 2005 highlights were very impressive with 2006 shaping up even better:

Role

The Senior IT Support Administrator role is, as part of the Corporate Infrastructure Group, to design, implement, administer, and optimize Windows, UNIX and Linux systems servers, workstations, printers, internetworking devices and related components to achieve high availability and performance of the various business applications supported while optimizing their interaction with other elements of the corporate LAN and WAN infrastructure.
REQUIREMENTS
Duties and Responsibilities

Lead, coordinate and participate in key process improvements
Participate in design and review of new systems and applications
Coordinate with network engineering, business applications, and database administration functions to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of IS systems to meet business demands.
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems
Support users in day to day activities such as remote access, email, and desktop support.
Define and perform system backups and recovery procedures
Monitor and test system performance and provide performance statistics and reports
Define and implement strategies for integrating UNIX and non-UNIX operating environments
Recommend and execute modifications to systems in order to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance
Integrate servers, including database, e-mail, print and backup servers and their associated software into enterprise systems
Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, processes, and service records
Ensure system connectivity of all servers, shared software, groupware, and other applications
In conjunction with other members of the Infrastructure group establish and implement policies, procedures, and technologies to ensure overall systems security
Conduct research on hardware and software in support of procurement and system development efforts
Review and implement new system releases and vendor supplied patches
Develop and maintain training materials for end users, team members and colleagues
Provide guidance to junior members of the team

Skills

The infrastructure team are vital in the support, maintenance and development of the internal company infrastructure. The role requires:
Demonstrated experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software systems, applications, and related products
Proven experience with systems planning, security principles, and general software management best practices
Working technical knowledge of current software protocols and Internet standards
Excellent troubleshooting ability with a working knowledge of supporting client and server operating systems and primarily HP and Dell hardware, on Windows, UNIX/LINUX, VMWare ESX Server platforms.
Excellent troubleshooting ability in routing, switching and firewall infrastructure on primarily Cisco, Nokia and Checkpoint platforms
Strong customer service orientation
Minimum 5 yrs. directly related experience.
