Senior Human Resources Generalist , Employee Relations / HRIS

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION:

As a senior member of the Human Resources staff, the Sr. Generalist’s core responsibilities will be to address and assist in the resolution of Employee Relations issues and to manage the HRIS system, including generating reports, maintaining processes and resolving systems issues.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Address and resolve Employee Relations issues. Manage assigned Employee Relations issues, including investigations, to conclusion. Provide guidance to employees on general HR matters.

Manage the HRIS database including data entry, oversight of quality of data, consultation with various department members to develop reports, respond to department data needs, monitor and manage interface with payroll system and serve as point person for all department technology needs. Work with Payroll Administrator to ensure timeliness/accuracy of HRIS/ADP data on an on-going basis. Develop ADP reports to meet department needs.

In conjunction with HR Director, coordinate activities to develop the Affirmative Action policies and the Affirmative Action Plan. Produce EEO-1 reports and other Affirmative Action reports.

Conducts employee orientation with other HR staff as needed.

Provide guidance to supervisory personnel surrounding state and federal employment laws in response to Employee Relations issues.

Administer CORI Processing/CORI Review processing for potential employees, volunteers and participants, confer with HR Director and VP of Programs regarding applicant/employee CORI issues. Liaison with CORI Board and other external agencies regarding changes in CORI law/regulations.

Distribute CORI results to STRIVE participants. Respond to participant questions and assist with CORI interpretation as needed.

Manage and respond to employment/salary verification inquires and needs.

Oversee MBTA Pass Program and tracking of deductions.

Oversee Discount Movie Pass Program.

Coordinate language translation resources for related documents and meetings as required by supervisors.

Manage Timesheet approval process for Human Resources department.

Create Employee ID badges

Assist Director of Human Resources with various projects as needed.

Assist with planning employee events as needed. Actively serve on committee or other agency teams in a positive productive manner.

SUPERVISION TO BE RECEIVED:This position reports to the Director of Human Resources.

SUPERVISION TO BE EXERCISED: Provide guidance and direction to employees and supervisory personnel.

REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION/TRAINING:

REQUIRED:Undergraduate degree or equivalent.

PREFERRED:Human Resources management training or certification. Bi-lingual verbal and written skills.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:

REQUIRED:Minimum three years experience working with/in Employee Relations and HRIS.

PREFERRED:Human Resources experience in a non-profit setting or organization similar in workforce structure to Pine Street Inn.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES/SKILLS:

REQUIRED:Requires long periods of sitting. Must be able to travel daily as needed. Proficiency with computer programs including MS Office suite, particularly Access. Experience with database management.

PREFERRED:Experience managing ADP’s HRIS system HRP, experience creating reports using ReportSmith.

MENTAL ABILITIES/SKILLS

REQUIRED:Ability to manage and organize a heavy and complex workload. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Requires an understanding of the business functions of Human Resources, specifically those related to resolving employee relations issues and knowledge of HRIS technology. Must demonstrate solid critical thinking skills and the ability to problem solve. Strong negotiating skills and interpersonal skills. Ability to build positive relationships with employees, outside sources and supervisory personnel. Must function as a team player in the Human Resources Department and all other areas of PSI.
