Senior Coder

Sr. Coder is responsible for complete and accurate assignment of ICD-9-CM and CPT codes in accordance with current internal and external coding guidelines. The Sr. Coder will abstract clinical, demographic and quality information form medical records for statistical, indexing and third party payor reimbursement purposes. The Sr. Coder supports Coding Supervisor's auditing, reporting and educational functions as appropriate.

The Sr. Coder exhibits an excellent working knowledge of Diagnostic Related Groups, sequencing of procedure codes in addition to an understanding of Peer Review Organization quality initiatives and Medicare reimbursement guidelines. Responsible for complete and accurate assignment of ICD-9-CM and CPT codes in accordance with current internal and external coding guidelines.
REQUIREMENTS
2-3 yrs of hospital inpatient coding experience is required. Graduate of AHIMA approved college program, RHIA or RHIT credential required. CCS in addition is desired.
