Job Category: Non-Exempt StaffIs this position grant funded?: Institution-FundedMonths Per Year: 12Pay Rate: Low $20's per year or commensurate with qualificationsDepartment: RegistrarPurpose/Description: Purpose: To provide receptionist services both on the phone and at the counter; services to specialized constituencies; and maintain and update student files.Responsibilities:
Enforce and clarify College policy to the public.
Serve as department receptionist-answer student, faculty and staff questions, receive and visually check all forms submitted to the department, and direct all incoming calls to the proper person or office.
Assist with registration.
File all source documents that relate to individual students.
Update paper files, request new files from Admissions.
Process drop/add fees, transcript fees and late registration fees.
Assist in the opening, screening, and distribution of mail.
Develop proficiency in manipulating student database.
Keep pace with changing technology by continually updating computer skills.
Process forms/input information into student database.
Other duties as may be assigned and/or necessary.
REQUIREMENTS
Required Qualifications: - Basic office skills required: typing, filing, answering phones.
Computer skills required: MS Office preferred.
Ability to simultaneously manage and coordinate a large number of varying tasks.
Excellent communication skills, strong customer service orientation and the ability to interact with a wide variety of people (faculty, staff, students and the public) in a friendly, professional manner both in person and on the telephone.
Accuracy with computer input important.
Presence to publicly represent the College.
Sufficient manual dexterity in order to operate all office equipment, including but not limited to: computers, fax machines, copy machines, answering machines (AUDIX), typewriters, calculators and telephones.
Willingness/ability to work occasional evenings.
Job functions require long periods of standing and high percentage of time spent sitting at desk during workday.
Ability to perform all of the above functions during an assigned workday without significant risk of injury.
Good attendance is required.Preferred Qualifications: 2-3 years office experience.
