GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
The Recovery and Performance Analyst will have specific responsibilities for enterprise storage management in a team environment. These responsibilities will include:
Backup and recovery management of AIX, Linux, and Windows server file systems, and Oracle and SQL Server databases
Off-site server and database backups to support business continuity
Administration and planning of a Brocade based SAN
Administration and planning of enterprise disk and tape storage devices
Development, implementation, and maintenance of storage management procedures
As time permits and the skill set of the Analyst is appropriate, the position will secondarily coordinate computer room planning and management for all PJM facilities.

Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or equivalent work experience.
0 – 5 years professional experience
Strong analytic ability
Ability to manage concurrent and differentiated tasks

Ability to learn in a team environment
Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment to accomplish shared objectives and goals
Preferred:
Experience with server and database backup/recovery, specifically using:
Tivoli Storage Manager
Tivoli Data Protection for Databases, Exchange, or SAP
ORACLE RMAN
IBM Magstar and LTO automated tape libraries
Experience with or understanding of enterprise storage management, specifically:
Storage components, including IBM Shark, IBM FAStT, and Brocade SAN
Storage provisioning, including database mount point allocation, LUNS, and LUN Masking
Storage device performance and tuning
SAN performance and tuning
Expertise in one or more programming languages, including:
PERL
Shell Scripting
SQL
Java and JavaScript
PROLOG
Experience with an enterprise database, specifically:
Oracle
SQL Server
Computer Room or infrastructure management experience, including:
Knowledge of server installation procedures and standards
Physical server installation, including network cabling
Coordination of team responsible for server and other infrastructure installation
Computer Room planning, including space, power, and cooling
Specific user or administrator operating system experience, including:
AIX

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participate in the design and implementation of appropriate enterprise storage capacity for all projects and infrastructure systems within ITS.
Participate in the implementation and maintenance of applicable storage management processes and procedures.
Regularly monitor file system and database backup completion, mitigating backup completion issues as appropriate.
Regularly monitor SAN and enterprise storage performance, mitigating storage performance issues as appropriate.
Participate in all ITS efforts related to the enterprise management aspects of the technology projects and initiatives within ITS.
Participate in projects, including contributing to the development of project plans related to the enterprise management process.
Participate as required in the annual expense and capital budget process for ITS for projects related to enterprise management.
Actively participate in the development of the ITS Systems Strategy as it relates to the enterprise management aspects of any initiative at PJM.
Develop and implement innovative approaches for enterprise management within a technology environment.
Participate, as appropriate, in the evaluation of vendor proposals relative to all work initiatives within ITS pertaining to enterprise management.
Demonstrate ability to work independently and to train, guide, or assist others in the completion of assignments.
Participate in the development of enterprise management best practices to assure the ongoing effectiveness of relevant processes and systems with ITS.

Demonstrate ability to work with minimal supervision in pursuit of departmental goals and objectives with little or no specific direction.
Participate in the development of processes and approaches for periodic enterprise management reporting within a technology arena to allow for more in-depth analysis of the audit and security impact of technology initiatives at PJM.
Utilize enterprise management practices to help maintain the health of the network infrastructure at PJM.
Develop practices to proactively predict issues in the operating environment at PJM.
Participate in the creation of an understandable process for enterprise management that adheres to accepted business practices.
Build and develop strong relationships with ITS business area clients by providing superior customer support as demonstrated by clearly owning, resolving and communicating issues and problems.
Demonstrate ability to be responsive to customer needs, requirements and deadlines and generally promote goodwill in a professional and trust-building manner.
