RN Float II - Critical Care - GMC

JOB SUMMARY:
Implements, monitors, and analyzes error reduction standards and assures institution of appropriate processes to realize sustained problem resolution and service improvement. Provides leadership in the lab-wide coordination of Service Improvement, Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement planning and activities. Assures compliance with regulatory standards for external proficiency testing and assisting in preparation for inspection by accrediting agencies.

Performs duties to support the mission, goals, and objectives of the Geisinger Health System in its efforts to provide the highest level of patient care and maximize patient satisfaction.

Reports to the Chairman, Laboratory Medicine and the Laboratory Director.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Demonstrated mature decision making skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, doctoral staff and management.

Demonstrated about to work with minimal supervision. Must be self-disciplined and organized.

Demonstrated ability to use various computer applications to organize data and produce reports/graphs.

Demonstrated ability to analyze data and draw accurate conclusions to promote error reduction and service improvement.

Demonstrated creativity to develop a vision for Lab service improvement/error reduction activities.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelors Degree (BA or BS) required.

ASCP certification as a Medical Technologist required.

Minimum of 3-5 years experience as a Medical Technologist with additional experience in the field of Laboratory Error reduction/service improvement/quality assurance.

Demonstrated success in error reduction processes highly preferred.

Prior experience with Improvement of Out-Patient Services highly preferred.
