Division#: 27-1005Division Name: CS South CarolinaJob Categories: Admin/ClericalJob Responsibilities: MAXIMUS Correctional Services Division provides a full menu of services that include highly accountable supervision, cognitive behavioral programming and electronic monitoring - intended to be customized into a comprehensive solution for the individual probationer. Our programs help offenders become productive, employable members of society who support their families and contribute to their communities.Our Probation Officers serve as the first line of contact with the offenders referred to us for supervision and services. Through probation management, the Probation Officers ensure that offenders meet probation conditions and comply with court mandates. In addition to initial and follow-up contact with the probationers, the Probation Officers prepare data for court hearings, weekly progress reports, and act as the liaison with the courts. All of our Probation Officers receive core training in community strategies for effective offender supervision to include those offenders with substance abuse, family violence or other rehabilitative needs. Our Probation Officers do not make arrest or carry weapons.Education/Experience To qualify for this position, the formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college with courses in criminal justice, administration, social work, or the behavioral sciences preferred prior to being hired. knowledge of the Criminal Justice System and court procedures; ability to apply laws, regulations, and policies in a criminal justice environment; basic computer skills; and the ability to work independently. Bilingual English/Spanish is a big plus.
