Planning Coordinator II
Mountain Hardwear is a leading supplier of high end mountaineering, camping and backpacking equipment and clothing. Many high-altitude mountaineers, alpinists, ice climbers, big-wall enthusiasts and other hard-core outdoor adventurers make Mountain Hardwear their gear of choice.
This job description is not meant to be an all inclusive list of duties and responsibilities, but constitutes a general definition of the position's scope and function in the company.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
Assist planners in gathering information on demand from key customers. Work with sales and account managers to communicate key deadlines, collect style forecasts, create order-ready sales information for buy dates.Work with production and sourcing department to gather and compile information necessary for buy decisions prior to buys.Generate and distribute excess inventory reports weekly.Gather and maintain out-of-stock data, generate seasonal out-of-stock reports.Provide support for key planning tasks, including set up and update of spreadsheets which drive production and forecasting processes.Prep various planning tools prior to buy dates to insure that setup information is accurate.Maintain style, color and size forecasts in the forecasting requirements planning models.Assist in preparation and maintenance of production schedules.Manage communication on dropped styles and changes to buy plan to appropriate departments.Provide general support and back-up to the Planning department, for a variety of forecasting, planning and order maintenance functions.
U.S. Expediting/Order Fulfillment:
Identify special status orders, such as catalog orders, and monitor production to insure on time delivery.Maintain communication with key people regarding status of orders.Troubleshoot inventory situations with the goal of maintaining the best match of inventory to customer orders, while addressing stock out or excess inventory situations.Use assignment sequence reports and other tools to respond to all expedite requests from production support and planning.Determine best response to information in reports and follow up with appropriate departments.Help ensure on-time delivery of products to retailers by identifying when deliveries of product will not meet customer demand and helping provide solutions.Determine when to request air shipments from international locations and/or distribution center (DC) work orders so that delivery times will meet customer expectations.Work with Customer Service to prevent charge backs when expediting arrangements cannot be made for supply to meet customer demand.

Perform various special projects for the department.Maintain positive open lines of communication with reps, distributors, management, staff, and other departments in order to contribute to the smooth flow of information and efficient operation of the organization.
Job Scope:
Job is frequently varied and often includes new or unique work assignments involving a moderate to high degree of complexity.Variety is seen in working with various product lines and functional areas.Complexity is found in optimizing a number of factors involved with production planning and multiple conflicting priorities.Work is checked or verified by results.Decisions are made within general department policy constraints.Errors in judgment result in poor delivery, lost sales, excess inventory, close-outs, and reduced profits.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no supervisory responsibility.
Interpersonal Contacts:
Interactions with others focus on information exchange and problem solving.Contacts usually contain confidential/sensitive company information.Communication often involves subjects of a technical nature.Incumbent usually initiates contacts on his/her own with 50% being by phone/email and the remainder via face-to-face interaction.
Specific Job Skills:
Experienced user of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access preferred; Ability to read, write, and speak English including speaking to groups of varying sizes; Physical ability to use the telephone, computer hardware/software including keyboard.Incumbent must be proactive and assertive in follow-through along with strong analytical and problem solving skills.Work with other cultures in a business setting and understand the need for cultural sensitivity.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience.Three to Five years experience in a business environment performing tasks that required a high level of organization, planning, and follow-up.Experience in Outdoor Industry / Manufacturing desired.
Job Conditions:
Job may require hours that often exceed 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week to complete priory projects. Job pressure exists in the balancing of a variety of projects, and numerous simultaneous deadlines. Ability to sit for extended periods of time, lift and/or carry 10lbs.
