PATIENT ACCOUNTS DIRECTOR (4449)
Perot Systems Corporation is a worldwide provider of information technology services and business solutions to a broad range of clients. We are currently looking for a Patient Accounts Director to join our team in St. Louis, MO.Job Responsibilities:
The Patient Accounts Director is responsible for the daily organization and direction of the Business Office. Major functions include billing, collections and third-party payor compliance.Additional Responsibilities:
Responsible for the overall operation of the Business Office, including billing and collections, third-party payor contract management, and financial counseling.
Identifies and implements problem-solving mechanisms in routine and non-routine situations to resolve process problems.
Ensures the maintenance of adequate documentation to meet audit requirements of internal audit, Medicare, Medicaid and other third-party payors.
Directs authorization of appropriate access to information through a security code monitoring system.
Manages the maintenance of the third-party payor logging system to ensure the accuracy of all contractual data.
Implements programs or projects as directed by the Chief Financial Officer
Makes recommendations to the CFO to improve efficiency, increase cash collections, and reduce days in the A/R.
Achieves yearly accounts receivable goals as set by the facility through the use of reports, and continually monitors department performance.
Monitors key indicators related to registration errors, billing errors, denials, collection agency issues, cash and contractual applications, bad debt, and charity care.
Develops useful reports on a monthly basis.
Works closely with the CFO and finance department to improve performance.
Conducts monthly Business Office staff meetings to facilitate two-way communication on policies, procedures, issues, business operations, status of key indicators and customer satisfaction.
Regularly reviews and revises Business Office policies and procedures.
Assists in the development and revision of customer satisfaction tools and measures. Provides guidance to staff on resolving customer complaints, and implements corresponding training in guest relation skills.
Directly resolves or provides direction to supervisory staff for customer complaints needing high-level attention.
Directs the Business Office processes of employee selection, performance appraisal, and recommendation for promotion, pay increase, counseling and disciplinary action, always according the Human Resource guidelines
Clearly communicates job duties to staff.
Assists in the development of the Business Office operating and capital budgets.
Works with the CFO and staff to develop and implement 1-5 year plans and goals
Monitors department operations and budget reports, making adjustments to the operation to meet budget goals.
Attends meetings, and participates on committees as required, and conveys information to department as appropriate.
Establishes effective communication processes and working relationships with the CFO, Registration Process, Health Information Management and Information Systems departments to ensure timely data flow between the areas.
Required Skills:
Five years experience in healthcare environment with three years experience in Patient accounting (billing, credit and collections), admitting, or registration
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
Demonstrated leadership and management abilities
Superior analytic skills
Excellent computer skills - especially knowledge of Microsoft officeDesired Skills:
Three years supervisory experienceMinimum Educational Requirements:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Bachelors Degree in Business Administration of Healthcare Administration
