Medical Bill Review Analyst

EXCELLENT OPPORTUNITY for an experienced medical coder to perform medical bill reviews in a corporate setting. Due to continued growth and expansion, Applied Underwriters is seeking a permanent, full-time Medical Bill Review Analyst. Ideal candidates possess coding and billing experience with a preferred emphasis in the orthopedics specialty. This person will perform technical review of evaluation and management visits, surgical procedures and verify coding information in the software system. Other responsibilities include: Enter document numbers and claimant header information from each bill into the computer Pend bills with missing information and research to resolve questions or inconsistencies
Verify claimants and claim numbers
Compile, sort and verify accuracy of data to be entered
Serves as a resource to provider for reconsideration of bills including responses to inquiries and appeals.
Organize and route documents after entry
Keeps abreast of coding/billing guidelines Interpret data using auditing tools for Evaluation and Management code assignment validation and brings identified concerns to supervisor for resolution
Requests additional reports as needed according to Fee Schedule(s) to ensure appropriate payment for billed services
Maintains knowledge of Fee Schedule(s) requirements and updates
Performs surgical and technical review for various medical providers to include outpatient and inpatient facility bills
REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge or the aptitude to learn various payment systems including DRG, APC, and Physician Fee Schedule Coding certification including CCS, CCS-P, CPC, CCA, RHIT or RHIA
Knowledge of ICD-9 coding and CPT coding which may be acquired through completion of coding coursework or 2 years coding experience Analytical ability to note detail when performing Medical Bill Review
Knowledge or aptitude to learn IQReview, Claims Management and Microsoft products
Ability to enter data in an accurately and timely manner
Good organizational skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
Good written and verbal communication skills
Maintains continuing education requirements of coding credentialNEXT STEPS
