Marketing and Sales Administrator I (General Cargo Marketing Specialist


POSITION DUTIES:

The Maryland Port Administration (MPA) currently has an opening for a General Cargo Marketing Specialist, in executive service, which serves at the pleasure of the appointing authority. The successful candidate must be able to develop, implement and monitor targeted marketing and sales programs that meet or exceed customer needs.

This position has the responsibility to develop and maintain business through the MPA’s Terminals in an effort of achieving and exceeding customer base and budgets. Knowledge in supply chain logistics and intermodal transportation is essential. The successful candidate must be able to work in a fast paced environment, travel domestically and/or internationally for extended periods of time and work/contribute within a team environment.

This position requires the selected candidate to possess strong communications, both oral and written, as well as excellent interpersonal skills. The successful candidate must also be enterprising, have a strong initiative and the ability to work independently with limited instructions. Good computer skills and experience in MS Office software is required. A good understanding of the Port of Baltimore and the Maryland Port Administration’s terminals is extremely desirable.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


Education:

Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Advertising, Mass Communications, Business or related field from an accredited college or university.


Experience:

Seven years of professional sales and marketing experience, five years of which must have been in the Transportation industry.


NOTES:

1. Professional sales and marketing work experience in the freight transportation or maritime industry may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to four years of the required education.

2. Additional graduate education in Marketing, Public Relations, Advertising, Mass Communications or Business at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of thirty credit hours for each year of experience for up to two years of the required experience.

LICENSE:

Employees in this classification are assigned duties that require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
