Perot Systems Corporation is a worldwide provider of information technology services and business solutions to a broad range of clients. We are currently looking for a Lead Him Coder to join our team in St. Louis, MO.Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for leading the hospital clinical coding function. This position helps to ensure that the hospital adheres to the highest standards as set forth by any and all coding compliance directives. Education of physicians, case managers, and coders on topics related to coding, proper documentation to support selection of principal diagnosis, complications and co-morbidities are ongoing and essential functions of the lead coder positionAdditional Responsibilities:
Monitors coding performance and provides input into annual performance appraisals
Oversees the training of new coders and holds monthly meetings.
Reviews coding quality, ensuring that an effective SMART review process is established. Measures and reports accuracy of clinical coding, using, among other references, AHA's Coding Clinic and AMA's CPT Assistant.
Coordinates the hospital coding functions, ensuring adequate coding coverage for all patient types so that all records are coded in a timely manner.
Prepares, distributes, and monitors reports associated with the Discharge Not Final Billed/Coded (DNFB/DNFC) report. Maintains a DNFC of 4.0 days or less
Assists the Business Office and Registration Department in maintaining a facility DNFB of 5.0 days or less.
Compiles statistical and other reports related to the hospital and department >
Coordinates the trauma registry, and assists with cancer registry activities as neededRequired Skills:
Minimum 3 years HIM coding experience or equivalent combined education and experienceMinimum Educational Requirements:
Bachelor or Associate Degree in Health Information ManagementMinimum Certifications or Other Professional Credentials:
