Summary of Responsibilities
The Team Lead – Retail Customer Choice will supervise a team of Data Analysts, Retail Transaction Analysts and Retail Transaction Support team members within ERCOT’s Retail Customer Choice department who are experts in commercial and operational functions needed to support the retail functions of the Transmission and Distribution Services Providers (TDSPs) and the Competitive Retailers (CRs). The Team Lead will train team members to perform their business functions within ERCOT and between Market Participants by developing knowledge and expertise of ERCOT’s retail operations. This person acts in the role of business expert in aiding production, development, and market projects to ensure market business requirements and enhancements are met throughout ERCOT systems. This person will be expected to know at an expertise level the workings of the ERCOT Retail Commercial Applications, Texas Standard Electronic Transactions (SET) , Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) standards and business protocols. The Team Lead will assist in developing workload management tools and reports and will work closely with the Manager of Retail Customer Choice. This position will help direct the efforts of the team members assigned to meet department goals and exceed the expectations of the Market Participants.
Essential Job Functions
?Lead, coach and train assigned team of resources to evaluate/analyze and resolve transaction issues, exception processing and project support as required.
?Lead the development of tools, training materials, reports and related items aimed at improving the effectiveness of the Retail Customer Choice team ability to evaluate/analyze and resolve transaction issues, manage exception processing and provide project support as well as maintenance of market knowledge needed to support Retail Transaction processing for ERCOT Market Participants.
?Provides estimates of work effort and impact of tasks for the team assigned.
?Assist in training team members in technical complexities of assigned work.
?Leads efforts for exception processing including data management and data repair activities.
?Serve as a business resource for the company and are responsible for resolving issues between customer transactions and ERCOT Retail Commercial Applications.
?Coordinate functional requirements and technical solutions with systems personnel; and act as a subject matter expert to define or design business processes and identify enabling methodologies based on market requirements.
?Provide leadership for implementation of complex projects.
?Responsible for gathering requirements, short-term and long-term use cases, business models, analysis, user interface specifications, test requirements and documentation as required supporting the development and ongoing support of ERCOT systems.
?Work with project teams to determine business objectives and solutions.
?Increase business effectiveness, solve problems, and create new opportunities to assist in the achievement of company goals.
?Generate innovative ideas to resolve problems.
?Assists team members in becoming active participants in process improvements.
?Assists in the reconciliation and correction of ERCOT systems interfaces to ensure data synchronization across systems.
?Identifies System Investigation Requests (SIRs) with input from the team members in Retail Customer Choice, as well as other ERCOT departments.
?Assist in the development of ERCOT Retail Customer Choice procedures consistent with SB7 and ERCOT Business Rules.
?Assist others within the department to respond to information requests from the PUCT, Market Participants and other ERCOT departments.
?Promote customer satisfaction and quality customer service within ERCOT.
?Supports the day-to-day operations of the Market Operations Department.
?Formally and informally updates the Department Manager on personnel, market participant and system issues.
?Assists in the development and implementation of short-range and long-range goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
?Develops Market Participant and Internal ERCOT recognition as an “Industry Expert” on systems and process supporting the retail transaction flow processes.
?Develops strong working relationships with other ERCOT departments
?Works to create a positive work environment.
?Assist the Department Manager with the career development of Data Analysts and Retail Transaction Analysts.
?Develops and maintains an expert level of computer skills in ERCOT Retail Commercial Applications
?Clearly communicates complex technical concepts both in a written and verbal manner.
?Develops and maintains functional knowledge in other ERCOT procedures and business rules related to Data Aggregation, Load Profiling, Settlements and Billing, and the Texas REC Program.
?Maintains working knowledge of system integration and testing procedures.
?Maintains working knowledge of computer/technical skills in data base query creation and data retrieval using SQL/Toad or other tool sets.
REQUIREMENTS
Experience and Educational Requirements
?Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Sciences, Engineering, or related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
?Minimum 2 years experience leading and directing a group of individuals to achieve desired goals
?Preferred 6 years of performing contract management, customer/client care, data relationship management and/or CIS management.
?Preferred 6 years experience in Electronic Data Interchange (EDI).
?Possess strong computer skills including proficiency in common business applications such as Excel, Word and Access as well as working knowledge of Oracle SQL.
?Knowledge of system integration processes.
?Problem solving skills including the ability to provide detailed technical analysis.
?Electric utility market deregulation/restructuring experience desired.
?Knowledge/familiarity of PUCT rulings regarding restructured electricity market desired.
?Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as proven relationship development skills.
