IT Project Management Office Manager

EDMC is seeking an IT Project Management Office Manager to lead the development of the IT Project Management Office. The candidate will be responsible for oversight of the Project Management office, which will interface with the project managers of all IT-related projects within the company. Reporting to VP IT Architecture & Integrations, he or she will serve as the liaison between the project managers and the IT management Team. It will be the candidate’s responsibility to summarize and synthesize all project-related metrics, reports and timelines and report them to the executive committee. As a newly created position, the candidate will be responsible for creating many of the methodologies, processes and tools of the office.

Specific duties include:
•Establish a common set of IT project management processes and tools (e.g. Planview or other appropriate project management software) across all IT projects.
•Establish and maintain the project management methodology (e.g. standards, policies, best practices, templates, etc.)
•Distribute processes and methodologies to the IT organization and all business unit project leads.
•Provide training and coaching to build and further develop core IT project management competencies.
•Assist business units in preparing project plans
•Address critical issues contributing to problems or delays on projects
•Identify stake holder’s expectations and ensure that project will meet those expectations
•Assist project staff in identifying, characterizing, and quantifying risks to project success and discusses appropriate risk mitigation and management methods.
•Review IT project plans submitted by all business units to obtain agreement on scope, to challenge assumptions and estimates, to ensure personnel allocated appropriately, and to ensure proper scheduling of resources.
•Establish and monitor key project metrics for each project.
•Establish methodology to track, synthesize and summarize project information for all current projects.
•Provide management with reports, metrics, tools, etc., that illustrate the status of each report
•Establish and maintain information repository so that prior projects management deliverables can be candidates for reuse by similar projects, reducing project start-up time.
•Establish internal benchmarks for the time it takes to complete various project tasks in order to evaluate the effectiveness of various personnel in completing the tasks.
•Assist the IT Managers with company wide prioritization of projects and allocation of IT resources.
•Audit various projects to insure proper processes and methodologies are being followed and determine areas where improvement is needed on future projects.
•Advocate project management to all the business units. This includes educating and selling business units on the value gained through the use of consistent project management.Job Requirements
Qualifications:
Candidates must have 6+ years of experience of Project management experience, with at least 2+ years of as an IT practitioner, including planning, installation, configuration and implementation of enterprise wide, server based computing environments. Candidate must be familiar with Customer Information Systems, ERP implementations, Project Management Office activities, and wide scale, enterprise wide implementations.

PMI certification required and IT experience is a plus. BS degree is required; MIS or MBA graduate degree is preferred.

The candidate must have proven success as an IT Project Manager, managing major impact projects and planning and tracking multiple complex projects, creating detailed project plans and schedules and monitoring/controlling project execution while ensuring quality deliverables. Demonstrated ability to synthesize project related information into succinct and easily understandable formats for executive level personnel.
