Health Service Assistant (HSA)
Position Summary
Functions under the direct supervision and direction of the Health Service Coordinator (HSC) and collaborates with other members of the health care team to facilitate quality, cost-effective management of the renal patient, while minimizing fragmentation of the health care delivery system. Provide administrative support to HSCs and any member of the functional health care team.
Reports To: Director, Clinical Services, RMS.
Accountability To: Local reporting structure, i.e., , Disease Management Organization (DMO), Independent Physicians Association. (IPA) or Health Plan.
Primary Responsibilities
Perform administrative support activities for the HSC and the care team members.
collect, verify, enter and maintain data and medical record information in the RMS medical management database
establish and maintain data distribution channels
maintain patient, provider and payor contact and referral information
support in-house or out-sourced phone, fax, or electronic mail administration for patient or payor related issues
develop reports and PowerPoint presentations, obtaining approval of appropriate supervisory personnel before distribution
obtain and monitor order levels for necessary office supplies and equipment
resolve equipment maintenance issues with vendors and Information Systems
Schedule and follow up with client, provider, or payor appointments or meetings.
Assist the HSC with the development, revision, approval process and distribution of educational materials.
Position Requirements
HS Graduate or equivalent; must have reliable transportation to pick up from labs, etc. Mileage will be paid. Two year’s experience as medical admin assistant. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Proficiency required in a variety of software packages, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the Health Service Coordination programs’ Medical Information System Technology (MIST).
Educational Requirements:
High School Graduate Required.
Minimum 2 or more years clerical experience.
Bilingual ability desired.
