The health record clerk is responsible for obtaining, assembling, and filing patient records in approved format; answering and responding appropriately to telephone calls; and distributing reports and statistics.Additional Responsibilities
Meet or exceed quality guidelines for all assigned job duties per established department policy 95% of the time or greater
Answer all telephone calls by the third ring, kindly and professionally identifying oneself by name and department, and provides assistance to caller (including returning calls and pages and transferring calls) per established department procedures.
Deliver documents and records to patient care areas and inserts documents in all types of patient records with accuracy and according to established department procedures in a timely manner.
Has a working knowledge of the delivery standards with regards to STAT and Non-STAT floors.
Sorts, collates, and distributes reports with accuracy and in a timely manner per established department procedures.
Compiles, sorts, and distributes all transcribed reports to the appropriate areas in a timely manner 95% of the time or greater.
Receive census listings, patient index information, and other daily reports, and compiles reports/data in a timely manner per established department procedures with accuracy as related to job.
Pull records requested by authorized users with accuracy and in a timely manner per established department procedures.
File records by terminal digit order with accuracy and in a timely manner per established department procedures.Required Skills:
Minimum typing skills of 35 wpm.
Average computer knowledge.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Basic numerical skills and alphabetical filing skills.
Knowledge of functions and relationships of departments within a hospital environment preferred.
Excellent customer service skills.
Knowledge of computerized chart tracking system preferredDesired Skills:
