Classification: Temporary Compensation: $50000.00 to $60000.00 per year This position is responsible for the administration of Company's (including sister companies and subsidiaries) environmental, safety and health program.
This includes preparing, completing and promoting the adoption of policies, safety equipment and programs directed toward reducing accidents and improving environmental, safety and health awareness; preparing and delivering training pertaining to environmental, safety and health practices; and providing guidance, assistance to supervisors and management in the performance of related responsibilities.

JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, monitor, evaluate, and take action to ensure compliance of company facilities' activities with applicable environmental and safety laws and regulations, and performs other related work as required.
FUNCTIONS:
The functions of this position include the following:
Plans, organizes, conducts and maintains environmental, safety and health programs for the prevention of environmental and/or workplace accidents. Monitors and evaluates company operation's activities and company facilities' activities to ensure compliance with applicable environmental and safety laws and regulations.
Environmental, Safety & Health Activities:
Inspects facilities and work in progress to determine where hazards exist; makes on-site corrections of flagrant safety violations and hazardous conditions; stops work in progress in extremely dangerous situations; determines action to be taken; and prepares reports of findings and action taken.
Conducts or coordinates safety and environmental training for management and supervisory personnel.
Investigates workplace accidents and environmental, safety and health complaints.
Acts as the Coordinator for the Emergency Response Team.
Examines and evaluates new safety devices and equipment.
Recommends acquisition of new equipment or modification of existing equipment which will eliminate or minimize environmental, safety and health hazards.
Regulatory Liaison:Works as a liaison between Company and regulatory agencies, and maintains good working relationships with regulatory agency representatives who inspect the facilities for compliance with applicable regulations. Regulatory agencies with which the safety specialist will work include: California Department of Toxic Substance Control, Fire Department, County Sanitation District, Health Care Agencies, South Coast Air Quality Management District, Regional Water Quality Control Board, California OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration).
