JOB DESCRIPTION


General statement of duties: Assists the Dean of Admissions with outreach and recruitment activities.

Supervision received: Reports to the Dean of Admissions.

Supervision exercised: Assists the Dean of Admissions with the supervision of the admissions clerical staff.

Responsibilities:

Assists in the development and implementation of all college recruitment strategies.

Conducts recruitment outreach activities via high school visits, attendance at college fairs, visits to community-based organizations and agencies, etc.

Conducts on-campus recruitment activities such as campus tours/visitation, student group information sessions, Open House programs, teacher/counselor/community agency staff luncheons/dinners/
receptions, etc.

Meet with and advise prospective students.

Responsible for international student admitting, admissions, assistance, and SEVIS processing.

Review student admissions applications and determine admissions status.

Assist with the operation of the College's Admissions Office including supervision of application processing and supervision of clerical admissions staff.

Communicates with academic departments on a regular basis in order to maintain current knowledge of academic programs.

Serves on various committees that relate to the ongoing mission of the office as determined by the Dean of Admissions.

Participates in relevant professional organizations in order to maintain knowledge of current trends in enrollment management and student affairs.

Other duties as assigned by Dean of Admissions.
REQUIREMENTS
A Bachelor's Degree is required. One to three years experience as a counselor or
equivalent professional position in college admissions, college student affairs, or
other recruitment and advising capacity in a closely related educational setting.
Understanding of and commitment to the mission of a comprehensive community
college is essential. Candidates must be comfortable working with ethnically diverse populations. Candidates who are bilingual in Spanish/English are strongly preferred. Excellent verbal and written communications skills are required as well as experience in making public group presentations. The ability to work flexible and/or extended hours will be required periodically. Individuals who are team-oriented and comfortable in a fast-paced environment that places a high premium on customer service are desired. Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel in Greater Springfield.
