Database Analyst/Administrator

Reports to: Director of Information Technology
Under the direction of the Director of Information Technology, the Data Analyst is responsible for managing a comprehensive program of institutional research, reporting, and analysis that supports campus academic planning, enrollment management, program assessment, and strategic decision-making.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Organizes and manages the collection, analysis, and interpretation of a wide variety of data for the purposes of assessing institutional outcomes, measuring institutional performance against strategic plan goals, comparative analysis with peer institutions, conducting regular and ad-hoc studies, and reporting.
· Devises data collection strategies and negotiates access to data residing in the databases and operational systems.
· Identifies, defines, and prioritizes institutional research and analysis in support of the areas of enrollment management (including enrollment projections, recruitment yields, student retention, and student graduation); faculty instructional workload; academic program development and review; instructional costs and academic productivity; student characteristics; student-learning outcomes and curricular evaluation; and University accreditation.
· Prepares, publishes, and presents reports to campus management in support of institutional planning, University policy-making, and strategic decision-making.
· Supports users on STARS (Student Tuition and Academic Record System).
· Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
· Must have 3-5 years of SQL script triggers & procedures
· Establish record of interpreting and reporting quantitative data.
· Knowledge of the needs of senior managers for information in support of decision-making.
· Perform all technical aspects of project research, such as data gathering, analyses, and reports.
· Design databases used to provide management information and reports.
· Strong analytical orientation coupled with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and convey findings to management.
· Knowledge of statistical analysis and reporting procedures.
· Ability to gather, compile, and analyze institutional data, and to present results in tabular and graphic form. Ability to synthesize information from a variety of sources.
· Strong analytical, organizational and time management skills. Strategic thinker and planner with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work problems independently and arrive at viable solutions.
· Strong English language verbal and written communications skills.
· Ability to communicate complex information clearly in written and oral form to a variety of audiences.
· High ethical standards and respect for confidentiality of data. Demonstrated commitment to accuracy, reliability, and objectivity in analyses and work product.
