Data Warehousing SQL Developer/Analyst

THE POSITION: DATAWAREHOUSING SQL DEVELOPER/ANALYST

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
* To aid the Manager of Data Warehousing with analyzing the suer/project requirements and in the development of necessary new/changed stored procedures, views, tables/indexes, DTL Packages and jobs to meet requirements.
* The primary activity will be design, development and testing of Stored Procedures to meet the needs of projects.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Based upon written and verbal direction, analyze the data requirements, design the ETL using DTS to land data, build the views and procedures necessary to update, insert in to production tables and, if needed, generate the production table(s) with appropriate indexing after first testing and tuning the components and finally moving into scheduled job production.
* Position will aid users in the connection to data (odbc) and understanding its proper usage when accessed via adhoc methods.
* The selected candidate will be fully exposed to Microstrategy and Business Objects Enterprise Manager, and over time take on tasks in these areas.
* When the Manager is out of the office, this position, with the two other current direct reports, will manage processing, address challenges and service the Data Warehousing user community.
* The Data Warehousing SQL Developer/Analyst position, as well as that of DBA Application Development and Corporate Reporting Analyst and Developer, report directly to the Manager of Data Warehousing.
* This position is part of the IS staff, responsible for the corporate reporting data.
* The position regularly interfaces with other members on the IS team, in addition to employees in the project areas.
REQUIREMENTS
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
* 2-3 years Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Procedure Design/Development
* 1+ years DTS Package and Job Design/Development
* 1+ years experience with SQL Server base administration
* Data Warehouse exposure a plus
* Microstrategy exposure a plus
* Business Object exposure a plus
* Basic knowledge, and experience, with MS Office Suite required
* 1+ years, and a moderate skill level, with MS Access portion of Office Suite
* Solid communication skills - both verbal and written
* Retail IS experience a plus
