Committees and Special Events Coordinator
The Town of Miami Lakes is accepting applications for a Committee and Special Events Coordinator. This position is responsible for the planning, organizing and supervision of programs initiated by Town Committees and/or the Parks and Recreation Department. These committees include: Beautification Advisory, Cultural Affairs, Economic Development, Education Advisory, Elderly Affairs and Youth Activities Task Force.
This position serves the Parks and Recreation Department and shall be responsible for:
•Planning, organizing, promoting and supervising activities for all committees.
•Attending Town Committee meetings and Town sponsored events.
•Maintaining records and preparing reports and budgets.
•Tracking all committee programs.
•Completing and processing all permit applications for necessary events; maintains all committee rosters, budgets, minutes and other administrative tasks.
•Completing and tracking committee purchases including writing and processing all purchase orders.
•Having complete knowledge of committee rules and regulations passed by the Town Council.
•Working with the Parks Director to implement a comprehensive senior/adult program. This includes strengthening relationships and enhancing current programs with existing providers like the Hialeah-Miami Lakes Adult Education Center, Miami Lakes Civic Association and Miami Lakes Homeowners Associations.
•Seeking out and implements additional programming opportunities throughout the community. This program development and enhancement will include needs assessments, marketing, scheduling, registrations, agreement reviews, program evaluation, implementation and execution.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation, Business, Public Administration or a related area and a minimum of two (2) years administrative experience working with community organizations or business groups. The position also requires applicant to have the ability to rapidly acquire considerable knowledge of the local municipality and procedural regulations applicable to the Town; ability to develop and maintain effective public relations; and excellent organizational skills. Applicant must have the ability to work evening and weekends and have reliable transportation. Previous government experience, desirable, but not required.
