Benefits Clerk / Assistant
Summary: Relieves department of clerical work and minor administrative and business detail by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Organizes and maintains file system, and files correspondence and other records. Ensures appropriate documents are scanned.
· Coordinates and arranges meetings, prepares agendas, reserves and prepares facilities, and records and transcribes minutes of meetings.
· Arranges and coordinates travel schedules and reservations as needed.
· Greets scheduled visitors and leads to appropriate meeting venue.
· Composes and types routine correspondence.
· Makes copies of correspondence or other printed materials.
· Conducts research, and compiles and types statistical reports.
· Distributes incoming mail on a daily basis.
· Prepares outgoing mail and correspondence, and distributes internally for pick-up, or externally with post office on a timely basis.
· Mails benefit packets and cards.
· Coordinates mass mailings during peak times.
· Prints and mails provider lists for Clients.
· Verifies paperwork is complete and routes to appropriate persons.
· Assists with data entry into HRIS and vendor systems.
· Runs reports and audits data.
· Assists with creating PowerPoint presentations for meetings.
· Answers and screens Director’s telephone calls as needed, and arranges conference calls.
· Transcribes any voice recordings as needed.
· Orders and maintains supplies, and arranges for equipment maintenance.
· Relief for switchboard/reception.
· Helps to complete Benefit projects and initiatives.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
Associate’s degree (A. A.) from two-year college or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior benefits experience a plus.
Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Math Ability:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint as well as the Internet.
